Q: So, who's working on Vanguard? And what does that mean for the game (perhaps specific people with specific backgrounds produce a specific type of experience)?
A: First, there's Steve Clover and myself, the original two EQ team members and co-authors of the original design document. Then there are all sorts of people who've worked on the original EQ, various expansions, EQ 2, EQoA, Star Wars: Galaxies, and more. We've really made an effort to gather the best and the brightest from all of these teams. By the way, a great way to become familiar with the team is to head to the team bios section on the Sigil website -- there's a lot of detail there on each and every team member and their accomplishments.
And the second is at Cinescape:
Q: Does being labeled third generation prior to release of some second generation titles place added pressure to really innovate?
A: It probably does, yes, but it's mostly self-imposed. With EVERQUEST behind us, no matter how proud we are of that game, we know we have to one up it in a sense. It's analogous perhaps to a musician's feelings toward his first album while he's working on his second he wants to do an even better and more polished job, and he wants to take his artistry forward.
One advantage of being third generation is that we'll be able to look back not just at EQ and other games of its era, but also at the second generation games like EQ 2 and WORLD OF WARCRAFT and learn from both what they end up doing right and wrong.
