All of these features point to an ongoing commitment to the game that helps to offset what may be the biggest complaint about City of Heroes: there's nothing to do but beat up bad guys. But really, what should a superhero game be all about?
City of Heroes isn't deep, but it's balanced, creative, and fun. Few single-player games can boast the hours and hours of entertainment it provides before there's any jeopardy of becoming repetitive. It's more than a hero game; it's a super hero game.
The second is at IGN PC with an overall score of 8.4/10:
The game isn't without its faults however, gameplay can be repetitive as can the indoor areas and missions. The story arcs could use a little bit of help as could some of the mostly awesome interface. Some interactivity with the city environments would be a welcome addition as well.
But the bottom line is this. City of Heroes is fun! It's exciting, it's colorful, it's cute, it's brutal, and it's a great realization of comic books in MMO form. It seems like a great place to start for those that have always found MMOs intimidating. I say good job to Cryptic and hope they continue improving an already good game for those that stick with it.
And the third is at The Gamer's Temple with an overall score of 87%:
Overall CoH is an enjoyable game. The degree of hero customization is superb and you'll be amazed at the superheroes you'll see every time you log in to play. The gameplay is nicely balanced and it is a lot of fun to cruise the streets of Paragon City looking for the opportunity to do some good. You'll need to put some time into it before you can enjoy all that the game has to offer, though, and it is on this point that you'll have to decide if CoH is for you. If you can handle being a second-tier hero fighting street gangs for a little while with the promise of future superhero glory to motivate you, then by all means pull on some tights and hit the streets of Paragon City.
