Q: What are some of the major challenges in developing an add-on game?
A: Well first of all, it is sometimes easier, since the team has more experience for example in map design, we have got more feedback on what people think works and what doesn't. The biggest challenge is surely managing expectations. There is only so much we can put in given a limited timeframe and we had such a huge number of ideas and suggestions both from inside the team and fans, that we always were afraid to fall short. How many new items, new enemies, new spells are we able to get in? Will we have enough time to do this new hero? Things like that we have to be careful of or we end up with a game that is basically a sequel more than an add-on. But I think we have found a good mix in deepening and intensifying a lot of the strength and gameplay, making the game more challenging and at the same time expanding the possibilities and game modes for the players.
