Obsidian will be focusing on the single-player experience to make it just as in-depth and rich as the first game. As with any RPG, story and setting will be very important to Neverwinter Nights 2. As the name implies, the game will be set in the Forgotten Realms region of the D&D universe, and the city of Neverwinter will play a major role in the game as the team wants to make it a much more interesting place to explore this time around, making it almost a character unto itself. "It's kind of like the difference between Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2. Baldur's Gate was interesting, but Athkatla was a truly intriguing city," Feargus told us. "We're looking at how to make Neverwinter a really intriguing place to be, and make it a place where you go and come back to and go and come back to and have it really be a center for the game."
