All in all I am very, very pleased with Fable. It's beautiful, polished, and entertaining. The story is short, easy to follow, with a few cool twists and turns. The combat is simple and easy to master, but still manages to be fun and exciting. And the character development and experience system is also easy to use and works well for the game. The bottom line is that Fable may not appeal to everybody, but that's because the game is only as interesting as you want to make it.
The second is at BellaOnline with a perfect score of 10/10:
The graphics are stellar in this game. Trees have leaves of different types. Smoke rises from the glowing forge, the game cycles from day to night as you adventure. Your character can wear hairstyles and tattoos, changing clothes to suit the occasion. The sounds are great as well. You hear hoot-owls at night, sparrows during the day. People sleep and snore at night, while kids arond during the day. Amongst it all, a gentle classical musical score puts you into the medieval frame of mind.
The third is at GameRaiders with an overall score of 90/100:
Combat is slick and very entertaining. You can fight with melee weapons, ranged weapons and spellcasting. All three have a great interface and a comination of the three attacks is most likely the best option. Although ranged attack is probably the least effective overall because enemies close on you quickly. It's good to use to get a few pot shots off and then switch to magic and melee. The shoulder buttons are used to target opponents and cycle spells while the gamepad buttons are used to hit and fire arrows and spells. The interface really adds to the experience and, while it may take a bit of getting used to, it really puts everything right at your fingertips and makes the overall game much more entertaining.
And the fourth is at Xbox Advanced with an overall score of 8.7/10:
Indeed, though Fable has been continuously compared to the likes of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, this is not Morrowind. It is much more linear more so than that title and even Bioware's 2003 hit, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. If you're expecting an experience anything like these two titles, then you will be disappointed. This is more like Zelda, as said before, as it feels like an adventure game as opposed to an epic role-playing game, and it isn't comparable, in my opinion.
That said, Fable is still head and shoulder above the rest of games in its genres. It is also one of the better Xbox titles. The level of customizability and the entire scope of Fable are entertaining. It's backed with some fun combat and fun NPC interaction. While I may make it sound as if the entire title is flawed, it isn't. The simple fact is that Fable is still a great game. This is a solid piece of software that shouldn't be skipped.
