In 1993, A Wasteland inspired MOO (MUD Object Oriented) called Ghostwheel MOO was created, and still exists to this day. As classic CRPG players will remember, a MUD (Multi User Dungeon) is an early telnet version of the popular MMORPG. A second Wasteland inspired MOO called Desolation was created in 1998.
Fans of Wasteland would have to wait another seven years before another computer role playing game would appear that takes place in the post-apocalyptic America that fans of Wasteland had come to know and love. The spiritual successor to Wasteland developed and published in 1997 by Interplay was Fallout: A Post-Nuclear Role-Playing Game. In fact, the inside flap of the box begins with (Remember Wasteland!)
