A tongue-in-cheek squad-based real-time strategy that surprised everyone with its knowing sense of humour, diversity and quality. Using pastiches of well known superheroes (a high school geek is bitten by radioactive bugs and becomes... The Ant!), Freedom Force took comic book games into areas little explored, via the strategy genre and the lack of licensed characters. And it didn't suffer for either of those decisions. A gem of a game.
