Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed Reviews

The guys at UGO have released two different reviews for Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed, one for "veterans" and one for "newbies." The veteran review has an overall grade of "A-":
If you are a paying SWG subscriber, you are really doing yourself a disservice by not picking it up. JTL finally delivers what SWG promised: a complete Star Wars experience where you can forge your own way on land and in space. While there are little cosmetic things here and there that would have been cool (like transition screens instead of stale load screens, or more signs of battle damage on ships that have taken a beating), Jump to Lightspeed is one of the most impressive add-ons I've seen offered by any MMORPG. Now, it is up to SOE to get the core gameplay of SWG back on track.

But the newbie review only comes out as a "C+":
Even with all its warts, though, Jump to Light Speed is an ambitious and impressive project, and certainly a necessary one if Lucasarts and Sony Online are looking to deliver the entire Star Wars experience with Galaxies. For space sim junkies hoping to fly in the Star Wars universe again, it's pretty much the only show in town, and if you can stomach some ground-based play between sorties, you'll find the beginnings of your fix here. Meanwhile, those who are looking to add a little space combat flavor to their already-existing Galaxies lifestyle will find JTL right up their alley. Neither the mechanics of the gameplay (controls, enemy AI) nor the overarching elements that set them up (mission structure, the shipwright economy) work as well as they should, but given that this is an online game, you can bet that the designers will have plenty of patches, tweaks and balancing changes to make in the coming months. As it stands, Jump to Light Speed isn't the greatest space combat sim, but it is an interesting RPG addition that is worth keeping an eye on.
