The Bard's Tale Reviews

The folks at UGO and Gamehelper bring us the latest reviews for inXile's The Bard's Tale, and they're both fairly positive. UGO's review gives the game an overall score of "B-":
If The Bard's Tale played as well as it pokes fun at hack-and-slash RPG cliches, we'd be talking about an 'A' here. The repetitive combat and reliance on tried-and-true RPG conventions, sadly, bring down the rating. Don't let that dissuade you from at least renting The Bard's Tale, though. This is without a doubt the funniest tongue-in-cheek quest in console RPG history, one worth embarking for the 20+ hours it takes to burn itself out.

And Gamehelper's review gives the game an overall score of 8.5/10:
The Bard's Tale is such an enjoyable romp for anyone who loves RPGs, and I'd even recommend it for anyone who's looking for more of an action-oriented game. The humor is well written and the delivery is uncanny, and to that end I can applaud Cary Elwes for his part. His work never ceases to make me giggle. With all of the options given as to who to be naughty or nice to, you're given the opportunity to hear all of his witty comments as you tell his tale a second time. This game is a must have, a hidden treasure if you will with great gameplay mechanics behind it, and if you put the effort into looking for a game that doesn't have five pounds of liquid hype injected in it's vein, you'll be far from disappointed.
