The strong point of Everquest 2 is creating a fantastic environment for you to live an alternate life. Your character and room are customizable, and you can spend an eternity trying to craft unique weapons and armor. At its best, it transforms you momentarily into a child stepping into an alternate reality, much like going through the arches at Disneyland and gaining access to a rich, imaginative world.
At its worst, however, it is an endless cascade of monotony. The novelty may very well end up dissolving for many gamers, and they might find themselves at the mercy of the weight of the environments they are forced to travel through. Whether or not this game will be able to sustain the attention spans of gamers who crave variation in their battles is a huge issue, and is probably what has most caused a lot of players to steer clear.
And the second is at Gaming Nexus with an overall score of 7.7/10:
No risk, no reward. Sure, fantasy is the playland of particular archetypes and there are certain rules to adhere to: elves have pointy ears and dwarves are excellent at mining. Faithful to such profiling, the EverQuest universe does not stray from the tried-and-true formulas. EQ2, from conception to execution, was never able to think outside of the box.
