As a strategy game, Freedom Force Vs. The Third Reich acts much like Baldur's Gate you highlight one or several of your superheroes, and order them to do your bidding, be it the power to send enemies to sleep, or a simple controlled energy attack that levels a building in the process. You use these powers to complete various objectives over the map, and doing so earns you precious, precious experience for you to use to upgrade your hero's abilities. Combat itself is semi-turned based, allowing you to still move your character and order them around in real time, but also allowing you to pause and map out commands to your heart's content.
