Chi management is necessary for success. Not only does it allow you to perform special attacks (like Focus and the all powerful Chi Attack-accessed by pressing the Black button), but it can also be used to heal yourself by pressing White). Thankfully, dead enemies often drop Chi that you can pick up, and since you'll explore the world with a party you can either tell them to fight or, when desperate times call for desperate measures, instruct them to meditate, by which they'll replenish your Chi gauge.
