EverQuest II Review

While EverQuest II does much to push the expectations forward with a dazzling visual and audio presentation, the reliance on outdated game mechanics serves to drag the game back down. EverQuest II has a number of basic design flaws that other massively multiplayer games have recognized and done away with, but Sony Online Entertainment continues to rely on with baffling stubbornness. An innovative quest log and superb visuals aren't enough to counterbalance the continued presence of spawn camping, zones, and the deplorable lack of character development beyond the first few levels of the game. EverQuest II claims to lay ground to the next generation of massively multiplayer games, but simply dishes out more of the past in pretty new packaging.
