Tactica Online Interview, Part Two

RPG Vault has released the second installment to their interview with Imaginary Numbers CEO Luke Carruthers about the company's upcoming turn-based MMORPG, Tactica Online. A snip:
Q: How will Tactica Online's magic system work? Does this aspect of the game have any unusual or otherwise notable features?

A: Magic is only one of the types of abilities characters can have - the fundamental conflict is between magic, science and faith, after all. There are three types of skills that allow you to do "magical" things, in addition to the melee, ranged and hunting skills that make up the rest of the six skill lines - Lore, which are the skills associated with magic; Research, associated with science; and Doctrine, associated with Faith.

Each line of skills has a particular strength - Lore is good at directly damaging opponents, for example - but each skill line has defense skills, utility skills, buffs and so on as well. The real fun with skills comes from combining their effects in different ways to achieve new and powerful effects. Similar to a game like Magic: The Gathering, a core part of combat will be setting up these combos, and exploiting the weaknesses in your opponents'.
