Patches have been promised to clean things up; including the addition of the missing map (in fact patch 1.3 has just arrived with this feature). It's unlikely, though; that much can be done to fix the fundamentally awkward gameplay that ultimately brings it down. In the end, it turns out Dungeon Lords wasn't so much released before its time, as it was given up on in an admission that time had already long since passed it by.
