On the visual side of things, Bethesda keeps pushing the graphics envelope with each installment of the Elder Scrolls series and Oblivion is one of the best-looking games (if not the best looking) to date. From the lush, gorgeous expansive forests (you'll be counting the leaves on the trees and each blade of tall grass as it sways in the wind), to the detailed stonework that makes up each structure, this is art brought to life. At last count, the game world is approximately 16 square miles with over 200 handcrafted dungeons to explore. Characters and creatures alike exhibit fantastic animation and more than enough elements that make them seem alive. The attention to detail is everywhere and even extends to an all-new physics engine. Coupled with the brilliant lighting and shadow effects, this makes for a frighteningly realistic game world..and we haven't even see the water yet.
