BioWare Corp. leads efforts to raise $500,000 in one hour for local Children's Hospital
EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, September 26, 2005 BioWare Corp. hosted the first annual 2005 Miracle Builders Breakfast, in support of the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation. BioWare started the breakfast fundraiser with a significant contribution to the hospital. Other local businesses followed with donations as well, and the hospital achieved their goal of raising $500,000 in one hour. The funds will enable the hospital purchase a critical piece of operation room equipment an Intra-Operative MRI. This equipment will assist in decreasing the number of children who experience post-operative complications or require additional surgeries.
The Intra-Operative MRI is a leading-edge piece of equipment that provides pediatric surgeons with a more accurate map of internal organs, defects and abnormalities during surgery. The Intra-Operative MRI will enhance surgical outcomes, reduce the need for additional surgeries and improve recovery times for thousands of children who undergo complex surgery at the Stollery Children's Hospital each year.
(BioWare has always been dedicated to supporting children's health and welfare. The Miracle Builders Breakfast, for the Stollery Children's Hospital, will raise money to help a tremendous number of sick children,) said Ray Muzyka, one of BioWare's Joint CEOs.
(Supporting our local community through events like this one is very important to BioWare. BioWare has been involved with the Stollery Hospital for a number of years, and it was an honor for us to continue that support and host the breakfast fundraiser. We are extremely happy to support children's health care at such a great event,) said Greg Zeschuk, BioWare's other Joint CEO.
