Most of the gameplay will focus on military-like missions that combine the tactical combat of a KotOR and the squad-based battles and interface of something like Ghost Recon as you'll control a team of 3 characters, in total, at any one time. While you'll be able to command the squad to a degree, the NPCs will react intelligently and use proper tactics in battles. All combat will be in real-time, but we'll have to wait until Microsoft is willing to show a bit more until it can be determined how it will play out. It appears that Biotics and other high-tech gadgetry will play a major role in Mass Effect.
