GameSpy's GotY 2005 Awards: Jade Empire

GameSpy has revealed their "Game of the Year 2005" awards as well, and BioWare's Jade Empire has been recognized for two of them: #9 Xbox Game of the Year and Xbox RPG of the Year. A bit of what they had to say about the game:
For many gamers, Jade Empire represents the perfect RPG: it moves along fast, focusing on interesting decisions, dialogue, and combat. Character advancement is in there, but not as a spreadsheet of complex stats; you learn cool new fighting techniques or upgrade your main weapon of choice. The action never stops.

As with most of BioWare's classics, you can choose how you want the story to unfold from a moral perspective. The "Way of the Open Palm" and the "Way of the Closed Fist" are two schools of thought that don't exactly map out to good or evil, but definitely define your character as a merciful hero or a ruthless badass. Whichever path you walk, the story has its own twists and turns, ultimately revealing secrets about your companions -- some of which aren't pretty.
