Auto Assault First Impressions

The guys at IGN PC have posted some first impressions of NCsoft and NetDevil's post-apocalyptic vehicular MMORPG, Auto Assault. Here's a bit to get you started:
After a few runs into the wilds and back to your local outpost, you do start to get a mental picture of the landscape. At this point you don't get turned around this often and can start appreciating the finer points of the game. One thing I noticed was how bloody this game was, which is arguably appropriate for the theme. If a baddy doesn't have a lot of hit points when your vehicle hits them at high speed, chunky things happen. There are also some explodeable items scattered around (and it's a bit astonishing that some of these containers would still have gas or other fuel stored in them, but whatever). Much of the baddies you encounter will be on foot, and they will approach in fairly manageable bundles -- manageable as long as you keep moving and keep an eye on your health bar. During combat, they may randomly drop a wide variety of loot items. Sometimes it's money (referred to as "clink" in-game), other times it's car parts, and occasionally you'll get a weapon, health pack, food item, or a piece of bling for your phat ride.
