Having both the original game and Factions installed adds still more layers of complexity, by letting you experience the content from the respective continents in new ways, by using characters who originated on the other side. As with the first game, just the sheer amount of things to see and do in Guild Wars Factions is quite amazing, and there are enough different styles of gameplay available that you'll more than likely find aspects that you really enjoy and get hooked on. In some ways this is an imposing, complicated game, but since it doesn't punish you for experimenting (apart from the possibility of a tongue-lashing from fellow players), and since it doesn't saddle you with monthly fees, it's really quite hard to resist.
While GameSpy gave the game an overall score of 4.5/5:
Granted, this is a very common condition among MMOs, but Guild Wars remains among the most casual-friendly games of this type, and Factions continues this tradition. On a very meaningful level, it gives complete newcomers access to the most exciting aspect of the game right out of the box. And should those players decide to sample everything that it has to offer, they will not be disappointed. The game offers a whole mess of engaging, polished content, along with some of the most gorgeous visuals yet seen in an MMO. All without a monthly subscription fee. If you've been wanting to play Guild Wars, there's no reason not to pick up Factions. It's a good bet you'll find yourself picking up the original as well.
