Had they any ballpark for the launch of World of Darkness? Two, three, five years? "It is more important to us that we fully explore the potential of WoD rather than announcing any dates." Hilmar responded with a smug smile. He is good at this game.
Admitting defeat in my quest for specifics, I expressed how difficult it must be to keep a lid on developments in the face of the intense scrutiny and interest of the game community. "Here's what happens." He says, "You might think that CCP and White Wolf might have trouble keeping secrets because we're having parties all over the world where everybody has a good time." He pauses. "So would you think that we'd be bad at keeping secrets? June we had about 30 people aware of possibility of a merger. In August we announced to both companies that we were working on it, but that it was a complex process and asked everybody to keep it a secret. 300 people kept their mouths shut for three months, and this was a major thing that could have leaked out."
As far as World of Darkness goes, "We will pace our information flows about the product to be in keeping with the production process."
If they get this one right, it should be unique enough to get a solid fanbase. You can count me in now.
