A paragon is, by definition, a model of excellence or perfection. Breaking the law, even to save the righteous or punish the corrupt, is in no way acceptable. Playing as a paragon you'll have to find alternate ways to save the day. It can be tough, there's no question about it, especially with that easy way out just sitting there on the decision wheel. They say no good deed goes unpunished, but in Mass Effect the paragon is given his or her due.
The paragon makes great use of the spoken word, both directly and simply by listening. With a high level of charm, you can talk people into doing the right thing. Sometimes that means giving up without a fight. Other times it means that they give you an extra bit of information that they otherwise would keep to themselves. While the renegade likes to cut to the chase, the paragon is rewarded with a wealth of information if they're willing to listen. With Mass Effect, its worth listening. Most characters you deal with are fully realized, complete with motivations and histories. Its' up to you to learn them and quickly killing them or cutting them off won't usually get you that info.
