Top 10 Turkey Games

1up has awarded 10 games the turkey award, deeming them to simply not live up to their hype. Surprisingly, Assassin's Creed is amongst them, whereas normally the media doesn't recognise hype until at least a year later. Shenmue II, Lair and Final Fantasy VIII are other titles. Beyond that:
Fable
System: Xbox | Release date: 2004

What was the Hype?
It was going to be the biggest game ever, the story of a man's life and all the choices he made. Plant an acorn as a child, the buzz said, and when you come back as an adult it will have grown into a mighty oak! Moral choices you make early on will deeply impact the outcome of the story! The nuanced subtext will blow your tiny mind, swore creator Peter Molyneux.

How did it Fail?
Fable turned out to be the biggest 10-hour game you've ever played... except maybe a few dozen others that were quite a bit bigger. Acorn planting was not included as an option, and the morality of your decisions basically amounted to how totally badass you were (and how scared random NPCs were when you strode into town to buy stuff). The only substantial difference your decisions made had to do with the ending... which was affected strictly by a last-minute decision. Nuanced indeed!

Turkey Time Moment:
By the end of the game, your changing, aging, evolving character was an elderly champion... and everyone else was the same age as when you started your quest. It's all well and good to have a hero who changes throughout the course of your adventure, but you kinda need a world that follows suit to make it convincing.
Fable is a good candidate. Still, no Oblivion? They should be noted for the Radiant AI let-down at least.
