We posted a while back on 2008's top selling games, now Next Generation provides an analysis. It's an interesting read, but to extract the sad picture for RPG gamers: There were only 5 RPGs in the top 100 compared to 23 licensed titles, 15 action titles, 15 sports titles and 12 shooters. The total top 100 moved 166,3 million units. Of that amount, 34.3 million was from licensed titles, 29.9 from sports titles, 24.7 from shooter titles. Only 9.6 million (5%) of the sales volume was made up of RPGs.
