If you're absolutely desperate for some Fable II content and like the idea of pre-acquiring money and items (or debt, if you're that kind of character), then there is some small value in Pub Games, especially since a current exploit allows you to rack up some serious coinage. Without that little marketing ploy, this is a boring and ill-conceived collection of games' that just aren't worth your time of day.
Next is Giant Bomb with a score of 1/5:
So, in a sick sort of way, these Pub Games have accomplished their mission of increasing my personal investment in Fable II. Unfortunately, it has taken on a certain car-crash appeal that I'm mostly sure the developer did not intend. It's slightly less offensive as a Fable II preorder bonus, but it comes nowhere near justifying its 800 point ($10) asking price.
Then GameDaily with a score of 4/10:
Even free, however, Fable II Pub Games isn't worth the gamble. The games are only fun for a little while and without the element of human competition, they get dull quickly. Go to a real pub instead. It's way more fun.
Moving on, MSXbox World with a score of 5/10:
Fable II Pub Games is most certainly a cash in on Fable II which is pretty obvious from the offset. Had there been more variety of games then it would be a cool game to recommend a purchase. The only reason this game is going to be popular is the interactive element with Fable II as gamers seek a head start when they start playing in October. If you've got 800 points to spend and aren't a Fable fan, then it's advisable to stay clear. if you're a Fable fan, then no doubt you'll already be playing the game, cheating or otherwise.
Then there's Totally360 with a score of 2/10:
Promotional ideas like this should be encouraged, but not at cost to gamers themselves who are, after all, the people who will be laying out their hard earned cash on the game that Fable 2 Pub Games is trying to promote. Because of the achievements and unlockables, some might think it's worth investing a little time in just to get them a tiny head start in Fable 2 but taken as a standalone product , it's pretty dire stuff with very little long term appeal or enjoyment on offer.
And, lastly, 360 Monster with a score of 62%:
Personally, I don't think Fable II Pub Games is worth the 800 Microsoft Points, unless you're a serious Fable 2 player looking for an experience boost. Though chances are, you already had Fable 2 on order and received this title for free. The games don't provide enough entertainment and will bore many players after an hour or two due to the games being luck-based. There's also a chance you'll end up in debt before the game's even released!
