Jonric: What about new items? Can we look forward to lots of them, and how did you decide what to add? Will many be endowed with powerful magic?
Bobby Null: Storm of Zehir will definitely have a plethora of new items. In addition, many that were already in the game have been updated. Some have had their power balanced a bit better, while others have received much needed increases. A few things have had considerable cost boosts, while others are much more affordable now - yay for cheap ammunition! We have also added many brand new articles, including fan favorites directly from the latest 3.5 D&D supplements.
The original campaign in Neverwinter Nights 2 had a lot of magic items in it, some of which were incredibly powerful. In Storm of Zehir we don't want the players tripping over too many of them too soon. This can diminish that warm, fuzzy feeling when you find the perfect pieces of loot for your characters. So for them, this expansion is more about quality than quantity.
Jonric: Will these various items mainly be acquired as drops from defeated enemies, via crafting, purchases or a mix?
Bobby Null: Acquiring these new items can happen in a variety of ways. Just like in pen and paper Dungeons & Dragons, some will only be found in ancient, forgotten ruins or dungeons, while others will only be available for crafters or for purchase. Crafting will be level-dependent, and there will be monetary costs involved as well, so buying from stores will require that you have enough coin.
Adventuring for your loot is a different story entirely. In Storm of Zehir, you are free to explore the world as you see fit. If you somehow venture off into the deepest, darkest parts of the Chultan jungle at level 3, it is entirely possible to get significantly better loot than you can currently craft or afford. It is also entirely possible - even probable - that whatever is guarding said loot will eat you for lunch... so to speak.
