IGN slaps it with a 7.5/10:
Majesty 2 turns a number of the conventional real time strategy elements on their head by removing the direct control over your troops in favor of bounties and magic. However, while this places a larger focus on strategy, it also plays directly into some balancing issues, particularly in regards to the loads of creatures that spawn into your territory and the sudden leaps in difficulty that are very hard to compensate for. If you're a fantasy fan or a strategy fan that's looking for a challenge, you should check out Majesty 2. Otherwise, you may want something where you have more impact on the game world.
The Game Guys decided to go with a "B+":
Visually Majesty 2 is one of the more appealing games that Paradox has put out in 2009, if not the most appealing. The graphics on a whole are great and appear to be glitch-free. The fine level of detail not only on the characters and buildings, but also on the terrain make for a very nice presentation. The game's HUD (heads-up-display) can get a little crowded once a dozen or so heroes have been recruited, but on a widescreen monitor it's quite manageable. The game's audio also gains high marks. The fantasy and seemingly Celtic-inspired soundtrack coupled with a good assortment of sound effects and vocal tracks make sure that this isn't a game to be put on mute after a while.
And GameShark thought it was worthy of a "B":
Unfortunately, you will never have much gold, and once reaching the higher echelon of levels, your heroes become rather snobbish. Attempting to get your knights in shining armor off their butts is one of the most frustrating things you will ever do. The kingdom might be going to hell, but they don't care because you can't throw down 6000 gold. They will do nothing if there's no cash incentive. I once had to bribe my warrior to get out of the inn when it was on fire.
