Even more exciting is the option to set combat tactics for party members, enabling you to tell them how to react to certain situations. So for example if a party member's health drops below a certain point they might have instructions to automatically heal themselves or to use a particular ability. This will help you to create a prepared and well balanced team that will solve small combat problems on their own while you focus on the bigger picture.
If the battle goes awry and your character falls, things aren't as simple as licking your wounds and recovering battered pride; damage taken in combat leaves lasting injuries which persist and inhibit stats until healed. This is where making camp comes in- health itself is recovered quickly out of combat but injuries need to be tended to by resting. While camping you can talk with companions and manage the party; a nice improvement over simply clicking the "rest" button to heal and something that could help to make journeying in this world more involving.
