On the subject of different ways to deliver content to fans, BioWare is optimistic about OnLive, the subscription-based gaming service that would theoretically bypass the need to upgrade computer equipment or buy consoles every new cycle. BioWare is bringing Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 to the service when it launches this June.
"If OnLive proves to be as successful as it seems to have the promise to be, it could be really cool," said Muzyka. "It's not the only way you deliver games, but if it reaches new consumers and enables more people to try our games to get into them, then that's good. I think you can lose sight of the fact that there are barriers to entry for consumers, so you're always trying to think what can we remove to enable more fans that are interested in checking out the games to be able to do that really seamlessly."
"Once you get over the hump and believe the concept that you can actually stream the experience and interact with it," said Zeschuk. "There's the whole obstacle to overcome convincing people it's going to work."
