We start off with Hooked Gamers, where they've given the expansion an 8.0/10:
Ultimately, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening does what most expansions are supposed to do: provide more of the same. It adds another 15-20 hours of gameplay, introduces a new cast of characters and provides all new toys to play with, but leaves the core mechanics of the game intact. If you loved Dragon Age: Origins, there is no reason to not give Awakening a try. It is a worthy addition to what was one of the best games of 2009.
GameArena clocks in at a 7/10:
If you enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins, you will enjoy Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening (even if you don't enjoy typing it out.) On the same note, if you didn't enjoy Origins, you aren't going to think any better of Awakenings either - it doesn't add anything, but it doesn't make any serious mistakes, and it's just more of the same. For your money you get about 15 hours worth of gameplay in a single playthrough, and while that seems a little light in comparison to Origins, it's a decent price for a stand alone expansion pack on a console.
And Gaming Union has handed out an 8/10:
Overall Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening delivers an efficient storyline and new quests which were built to deliver more fun, lots of laughs and even a few surprises. However it feels quite disconnected from the original and Ferelden just isn't the same - it could be from a completely different continent instead of the Kingdom the Awakening took place. Perhaps this could have been avoided by having more NPCs or party members from the previous game making appearances, or more choices for players to alter the path of the new story. Ultimately though, for Dragon Age enthusiasts, Awakening is a must have and packs a lot of gameplay value for a low ticket price.
