Background

You'll receive this task from Hendyna in Dyrford Village (#1).


Walkthrough

Hendyna will tell you that she spotted some drake eggs in Dyrford Crossing, but that too many of the wurms had already hatched, and she wasn't able to get close enough to the nest to steal one. She then offer to pay you to fetch an egg for her, but she'll warn you that the young drakes are dangerous, and that the eggs are fragile.

When you approach the drake nest in Dyrford Crossing (#3), you'll encounter a group of mercenaries called the Iron Brand (#2). No matter what you say to them, they'll attack you, but you can scare some of them off first if you want. If you have Resolve 13, then you can convince Raolf and Norgar to leave, and if you're from the Living Lands, then you can convince Elfya to leave. After the battle you'll find some "fine" and "exceptional" equipment on the corpses, plus the Stag Helm (which is being worn by Norgar, so it's better to fight him rather than scare him off).

To reach the drake nest, you'll have to climb up to it. You can do this with a Rope and Grappling Hook or with a character who has Athletics 5. Then to get the egg down, you'll have two choices:

• If you lower the egg with a rope, then everything will go well, and you'll end up with a pristine Dragon Egg. When you deliver this egg to Hendyna, she'll reward you with 600 cp plus three ingredients (Ogre Blood, River Reed, Emerald), and she'll lower her sell prices by 15%. She'll also add some new potions to her stock, and you'll earn a "moderate" reputation bonus with Dyrford Village.
  
  
• If you try to climb down with the egg, then the character carrying the egg will fall, breaking the egg and sustaining an injury, and you'll end up with a Broken Dragon Egg. When you deliver this egg to Hendyna, she'll be disappointed, but she'll reward you with 600 cp plus three ingredients (Xaurip Tongue, River Reed, Amethyst), and she'll lower her sell prices by 15%. You'll also earn a "minor" reputation bonus with Dyrford Village.
  
  Note: You can safely climb down with the egg if the character with the egg has Constitution 14. For that case you'll get the pristine egg reward.
