Background
You'll receive this quest from an old woman outside a locked cottage on the outskirts of
White Orchard (#1).
Walkthrough
The old woman will tell you an odd story about lending a
Frying Pan to a man. You'll learn that the man took the pan inside the cottage, met a second man there, and then departed and locked the cottage behind him, leaving the second man and the pan inside.
To enter the cottage, you'll need to turn on your witcher senses. You'll see that the front door is marked with the Aard symbol, which means you can use the Aard sign to knock it down.
Inside the cottage, you'll discover the corpse of the second man, and you'll see that he was garroted. You'll also find the missing
Frying Pan, Burned Pages (which will indicate that some sort of exchange went poorly), a
Silver Monocle, and a pair of treasure chests. When you give the
Frying Pan to the old woman, you'll earn
Apple Juice (x5),
Baked Apple (x5),
Bread (x5), and 10 xp.
That will complete the quest. You won't hear anything more about the first man, but the monocle indicates that he was Thaler from The Witcher.
