After collecting the Music Box under the Brightwall Academy, you'll find yourself back in said Academy, and Walter's looking for you. He's found new information on the Mercenaries plaguing the Dwellers. Head to the tavern in Brightwall (near the market at the town gates), and follow Walter up to the second floor. He's got an unconscious Merc with him; grab his clothing to use as a disguise. However, clothes won't be enough to convince the Mercs that you're one of them, so you'll need to earn some money to buy the necessary tattoos and hairstyles to trick them.

There's a few ways you can proceed at this point. Buying property and waiting for the rent to roll in works (the best strategy for long-term wealth), and you can also try your hand at some of the odd jobs around town, like Lute Hero or Blacksmithing. It's up to you how you make the money, but once you've got it, you'll need to head to the barber shop in town, just past the front gates and across the bridge. Once that's done, you can head to your Sanctuary to equip the tattoos, Mercenary Outfit and beard (yes, you need to do this even if you're playing a female), then fast travel to Mistpeak Valley, which will place you just outside the Mercenary Camp. If you can't find it at first, look for the large wooden gate just off from the lake.

Once you've got the outfit ready, this short quest will be finished, and Leaders and Followers will begin.
