Mordorman: sounds like you're SOL. The romance scripts should've started right away (you can tell when the romantic music comes up during a conversation). You must've answered rudely, or otherwise pissed them off.

Either that, or you're playing a dwarf.

I believe that if you dump her from the party, it kills the romance. Not sure though.

1. Go stealth and get BEHIND your target. Attack. (note that only certain weapons can be used for this: dagger, s swd, katana for sure. Maybe others?)

2. Restoration spells/scrolls fix you up afterward. Not sure what preventative medicine is available.

Pretty graphics are great the first time through, but gameplay is what gives it re-playability. They can;t stand still on the graphics or course, but I'd rather see them put the greater effort into the AI and storylines.

Also, better graphics usually means additional hardware requirements. I'd hate ...

Thats what I thought the first time.. but I just met him on my second run through and he didn't freak out right away.... said something like "Leave me alone". It was only when I tried to talk to him again that he exploded.

I guess if there was a way to get anything out of him I blew it!

The guy in the Trademeet pub

Does anyone know what the deal is with the guy (Veikrag or something like that?) in the pub that recognizes you as a child of Bhaal, then gets toasted by a lightning bolt?

If you don't wnat the spoilers... go to the mayor's house to meet the guy, and head out on the druid quest - you'll find what the djinn are looking for along the way.

Actually, I don't think reloading is "cheating" at all, it just makes the game a lot easier when you reload everytime something bad happens.

Also, I should have said "don't reload everytime an NPC dies". I think having to resurrect dead party members (or losing them altogether) makes the game more ...

House rules

I'm sure lots of people are using "house rules" to make the game more challenging, realistic, etc.

I'm basically just sticking to a "no reload" policy - unless the PC dies of course. Anyone have others?

Too easy

OK, this is starting to bug me.....

I've seen more than a few posts now that the games is to easy and I really want to know.... do I just suck at it? I didn't find it "easy" until late in the game (when you're too powerful IMO).

Are you telling me that if you:

- crank up the difficulty
- don't ...

I agree. Dual flails will get you some excellent weapons and let you take down just about everything in the game.

I couldn't agree more. I used a WS on my first run... equiped her with Tasheron's bow and she took down mages easily. Plus keeping her in the back limited the damage she took (that restriction on using healing potions DOES suck).

My opinion for a sword would be to go for speed. Get your hits in ...

Why not play a thief yourself?

Also, I found that Minsc takes way too much damage, and doesn;t have enough HP, to be a really effective tank. He's a great archer though (with some guantlets).

I'm using him in this role and stuck Jaheira in the front line... she can get a really good AC.

I agree ...

Paladin "stronghold" is similar to the cleric.... I believe you get your own room. You also get a nice set of armour though.

The BG series was the first CRPG in a long time that did a good job of implementing true D&D. It'd be a shame if they give up on the things that make it different from most others - i.e. role playing - and let it degenerate into a hack and slash where levels and items are everything.

This is ...

I just started BG1 again. Its a LOT easier than the first time (so far), but still at least as much of a challenge as BG2. I'd forgotten what being low-level was like.... Black Talon - run away!

What strikes me the most however is how much I miss the more complex NPC interactions in BG2. Also ...

My two cents:
I agree that extremely high level characters deter from the "reality" experience of an RPG. Even the end of BG2 started to feel somewhat like an arcade game due to the tremendous power at your disposal.

Its going to be a real challenge to keep such high level adventuring from ...
