The interesting thing is that as a human, I've killed her (to change her inventory when I accidently kicked her out of the group), hit her with a fireball by mistake and then asked her to leave, and nothing hostile happend.

I guess all of that didn't trigger the flag, talk about getting lucky ...

Lamia's only get 1 attack?

Don't they get 3 when you meet them....

I can understand the point about making it like a DM making an NPC and you wouldn't know stuff about him/her, but I think that's part of the problem. They tried to make a PC RPG into a PnP-type RPG, and I don't think that can work.

Try Wizardry 8 if you don't have it already.

The turns are more their side all at once then your side all at once (or vice versa) instead of each character/creature on each turn, but it's still a good game.

Note to self: Don't try to kick Darley out of the group. Tried that in order to by some masterwork stuff from the armorer in Hommlet and the little succubus attacked me.

Okay, I fought my way to the air node, killed the boss there, got out and now trying to get out of the temple.

But no.

Whenever I try to go back to Temple Level 1, it crashes. I can go anywhere else in the stupid temple, but if I try to go to level 1, it crashes.

I give up.

I think the blank spot is for lockpicks.

I'm thinking that's what my fighter/rogue has in her blank spot.

Are your builds posted here, SilverDragon? I'd like to see these. Anything that can kick that much tail in THAT battle is a build I need to see for sure! Especially on a 10th level character!

Yeah, after getting beat down four more times...badly, by Balor, I'm going to take Darley and run for either the earth or air nodes. The walkthrough says the air node is the easiest, so I'll try that one probably.

Thanks for the tips, I actually got past this fight (not by beating Iuz, but this time Cuthbert DID talk to him and healed my party completely (is it just me or is Hedrick far easier to hit after this?)

Now I'm stuck in the Fire Node. I can't beat that HUGE demon, Balor. I thought Iuz was bad ...

Interesting decision point though, I can't decide if I want her as human form or as a half-succubus.

I notice in human form she does keep her 25 AC without arm and 14 Spell Resistance. I've also read that I won't be able to barter with many other NPCs if she's in demon form ...

That battle is bad enough, Hedrick and his stinking 25 AC and all those creatures.

But then Iuz shows up, and I can't damage him (damage resist 25? Oh please..) can't magic him (spell resistance) and he hits like 4 times for 16 HP each time.

Then Cuthbert showed up and just stood there, by then ...

I'm running Windows XP on my laptop and trying to install the game on it.

It reads the CD fine and starts the autoplay screen pops up perfectly.

I click install, and the CD drive spins for a while as if its about to start, but then nothing happens. I check the running processes and setup.exe is ...

I have a question about reading the stats in the protos.tab.

For example the one NPC I have, Meleny, has stats like this in the file:

15 18 15 9 11 14

But I know in the game there's no way she has a 15 STR, etc..

Where do those stats above come from? They don't match the table ...
