Theres nothing wrong with pulling one of your higher lvls in for a boss kill, since its your own character that you've already leveled up.

I typically make one decent leveled character to aid my lower level characters in boss fights ...

Or you can do what I do, login a higher level with a diff cd key, off him with the higher lvl and then just run the zon to tyrael. The quest credit is talking to tyrael and opening the portal, not actually killing duriel.

I was at the store today and came across the box for IT. It doesn't say you need the original game to play, so I assume its packaged with the expansion.

I've encountered this error a couple of times trying to install Blizzard Games. You should be able to select a continue or ignore error and see if you can get it extracted. After a couple of tries the files get extracted and you're good to go.

If the patch didn't fix it, save your character files someplace safe and uninstall/delete the game. then reinstall the game after a reboot and reinstall the patch.
