Same thing has happened to me. If you have a scroll or wand of identify and use it while in the looting screen, you can identify and unlimited number of times for 100gp each.
Oh yeah, to make the screen go away, all you have to do is click on the body or chest to loot it again, then exit the screen ...

Dominate Person (or animal) should give you the effect that you want. I tried using suggestion and charm a couple of times, but the monster/animal would never stay in the party, even after levelling up, killing, and reviving it.

Whenever I summon a Balor with the orb of golden death or the fire node gem, he just leaves on the next turn. The other demons don't do this. Does anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Not only do they not fight if they're not close enough, the Balor will NEVER fight (at least it hasn't for me). He usually just leaves on the turn after I summon him.

That is officially weird. I've never even seen a failure message like that one. There's 1 guaranteed (probably) solution, though, and a 2nd that may or may not be helpfull.

The easiet way to kill them is with cone of cold. Chain lightning works 2nd best.

This is a bit extreme, but it will definitely get your character uncharmed. Kill your charmed character and then use a raise dead spell or scroll on them. Since your charmed character is your cleric, you might have some trouble with this...but it will definitely fix the problem.
