Fighter/Bard isn't a valid multiclass in 2nd edition rules so that's out. But Fighter/Mages are fun characters to play. They can cast all sorts of great spells including Mirror Image, Blur, Haste and Stoneskin, AND can fight decently in melee or ranged combat. The other option is a Fighter/Thief ...

I'm guessing that there has been a few of these threads over the years, but I've never posted in one so here goes.
For me, I'm having a bugger of a time at a battle in the second area of Dragon's Eye I, against 4 Talonite priests and a slew of trolls. All of the priests cast 'Hold' and the trolls ...

@Patrick
I'm not all that familiar with the Forgotten Realms, only with what I've gathered from BG1-2 and IWD1-2. Having said that, I had in mind that Bandar Holt would be a patron of Helm, Julia Dawnwatcher would be a cleric of Lathander or perhaps Arvoreen (the traditional god(dess)? of halflings ...

I also loved Pirates(!)! I've been playing it since Christmas and its still great fun exploring the Caribbean. However, I wish the trading and economy had been somewhat more complex, because right now earning your living as a trader just isn't feasible compared to piracy. But I guess the name of the ...

I'm assuming your talking about the new Zelda game from Gamecube. I believe its planned for summer 2005.
I'm looking forward to it, it looks more like Zelda: The Ocarina of Time than Zelda: The Wind Waker, which is a good thing IMO.

thoughts on GBA

My roomate is selling his Game Boy Advance SP for $50 CAN, and I'm thinking of buying it. I've never owned a handheld system before, but I'm attracted to the classic game library of the GBA sp. I'd just like to hear some experiences of GBA owners before I make decision.

I ran Spybot, it picked up a bunch, deleted them. Ran Norton AV 2005, found nothing. When I use Msn messenger, a little window that just says "msn" comes up. Only thing I can do with the window is move it or close it or click its "OK" button. Similar windows come up when I go on the hotmail website ...

odd windows message

In the past few days, I've been getting odd little messages when I open certain programs like msn messenger or hotmail.com. The messages only say "msn" "hotmail" or "login." I'm guessing they might have something to do with the new version of Bearshare that I downloaded and the Save adware that ...

hehe, thanks all! Turning 20 was a blast, though I wish I remembered more of it... I haven't been on the net too much over the holidays, since I'm at my parents house and the comp is slow as heck. I look forward to a new year at GB ! ;)

You can pick up the Age of Empires 2 gold edition for pretty cheap, that includes the vanilla game and the expansion. AoE is actually great fun, but as I said in my previous post, I would opt for Rise of Nations.

Age of Empires was great, but I think that Rise of Nations has surpassed it in many ways. However, AoE III could be a pleasant surprise.

One of my favourite console RPGs was Phantasy Star IV for the Sega Genesis. It was released in the waning years of the Genesis and is considered by many to be the last great game on that console. It offered three huge worlds to explore, a very good story, and an excellent battle system. Characters ...

Its going to have the same gameplay modes as DS1, so at least a single player campaign and co-op campaign. It definitely won't have any monthly costs like MMORPGs.

Rise of Nations is a very good RTS. It involves much less micromanagement than other real time strategy games like Warcraft 3 or Starcraft. I think you can pick up RoN and the expansion, Thrones and Patriots for a tidy price.

I've played the demo of Doom 3 and didn't enjoy it.

IMO, Half-Life 2 is almost as good as Half-Life, that is to say, it is arguably the second-best fps of all time.
I've only played Halo 2 to about the fourth level, but so far I haven't enjoyed it as much as Halo. The story is not nearly as ...

Having to keep an active internet connection to play Half-Life 2 was a really bad design choice for Valve in my opinion. Many gamers still have 56k and don't want to tie up their phone lines to play a single player game!
