2x Magic Missile - Most solid combination. This one is probably the best.

2x Acid Arrow - Potentially more damaging than the double-MM. The elemental damage is more easily preventable ...

I like your scale. It's pretty good. With some spells, i wasnt sure whether to rate it a 1 or 2, or 4 or 5 for some good ones, but that's a matter of opinion i guess. Still, you may want to consider narrowing down the description for each rating and eliminating any chances of spells falling into 2 ...

Like others have mentioned, magic is very weak versus golems. You have to rely solely on your physical damage to defeat them ...

Just out of curiousity, does anyone here play MTG?

It's totally trial and error, so you usually either memorize it from previous games or expect to take hits.

Though, to be funny, if you have fire resistance over 100, every hit you take would give you life instead.

You can get 8th and 9th level spells from Ribald in Chapter 6 as well, as well as finding them scattered about.
