Practically every character in KOTOR 1 had a "troubled past" of some sort.

I agree with you that the "troubled past" plotline has been done extensively in KOTOR, but I don't have the problem with it that you do. Quite the contrary; this is is an age old storytelling tradition ...
On the Endar Spire, when the jedi is killed by an explosion after dispatching the Dark Jedi, why aren't you able to pick up the Jedi lightsaber? Even if it wouldn't allow you to use it? After all, Han Solo used Luke's in Empire.

And don't say that the game comes before the movies ...

On the other hand, he could simply be Canderous Ordo with Dath Maul's head and R2-D2's ability to be a swiss army knife. Practically every character in KOTOR 1 had a "troubled past" of some sort. Mission was a snotty street urchin who got dumped on Taris by her ne'er-do'well big brother, Zaalbar was ...
Alright, so we've all read the reviews from Gamespot and IGN, but what matters to me is what you guys think of the game so far. I confess I haven't picked up my copy yet, as I'm waiting to see if I get it for Christmas. However, I would love to hear any and all opinions (sans ...
Yep, Traveller is still around. I've seen the older versions on sale cheep at my regular game shop. And as jopperm2 says, S J Games is releasing a new version, as an attachment for GURPS.

Cheers,
TGHO
Ah, yes, now I remember seeing it on SJ's website.

Not really. It's not necessarily the *personality* of the character, but what *side* he is on. In space opera, you can have a character who isn't so nice ...
Damn it, when and why did they make that decision? It takes away the element of planning your character. I mean, IGN said so, but maybe there is a cap but they just haven't reached it yet?
I can see this both ways. True, with a cap you must be more deliberate about choices ...

Just to tweak the conversation a bit, what are some good early-game combinations?

By this, I mean WITHOUT using Solari, Upari, Mantle of the Force or the Heart of the Guardian. These are the most powerful crystals, but they tend to come late in the game (unless you're daring enough to tackle ...

So.. i really like to have Jolee early in the game... and there is none earlier than going to Kashyyyk after Datooine.

Ditto. Jolee makes life much easier, whether you use him in direct combat or Jedi Support. I like leaving the last group of Mandalorians on Dantooine ...

From what I've seen, lightsabers act like any other "upgradeable" melee weapon with extra to hit and damage bonuses depending upon the crystal configuration, if any. It doesn't seem to make a difference if the target has a lightsaber or more mundane melee weapon.

If I remember right, attackers with ...
I still think they could have made that sequence much much better though. I didn't like the area, very boring once you take your eye off the combat. Yeah, the Unknown World has the best scenery, but for combat, nothing beats the Star Forge itself, especially Deck 2. The Sith and Dark Jedi come at you from EVERYWHERE, and it seems there's never an end to them. Like many other parts of the game, they struck a wonderful balance. They throw ...

Favorite Planet? (Spoiler)

Inspired by the "Favorite planet order" thread, I thought I'd ask what everyon's favorite planet, or section of a planet, is and why (Feel free to include the Leviathan, Yavin and the Star Forge itself if you like).

Tatooine

Manaan (Underwater)
Leviathan
Yavin

They aren't permanent, but you're going to pick up quite a few sabers and crystals along the way. Considering the scarcity of Workbenches outside the Hawk, it's often a good idea to create multiple sabers with different crystal combinations and switch between them as needed. For example, the Jenraux ...

Umm...I think we're talking about the interrogation with Saul Karath.

The "right" way to answer depends upon how you're playing your character. Light Jedi should refuse to cooperate, Dark Jedi should tell Saul to do whatever he wants to Bastila.
