Thanks for the advice guys! I changed the characters and so far the Trademeet quests are going very smoothly, much easier than the main city quests, in fact. Or maybe I just did the harder quests first! Haha!

I played a good character, and he tried to lure away the exact same companions. So maybe it has something to do with your alignment, or maybe those are just the characters most likely to be tempted by his offers (from a role-playing perspective).

I had heard that in the last fight with Garius, he will try to tempt your companions to leave you and join him. This he did, but he did not ask "all" my companions to leave me.

I have the exact same problem and it is driving me crazy!
I have entered the eyegouger's cave now and still have the problem...
It started from when I entered the Dwarf Camp I believe.

I prefer Sorceres, mainly because I like how they have magic naturaly, not because they leanred them.
However, I also like their being able to cast many spells a day.
Beyond level 5, a sorcerer can become really powerful

I have read somewhere in this forum that you can play with 2 or more clans at the same time, and for example play the Sabbat Warehouse with one of them and then use it's saved game file for others too so that you don't have to play it all over again with the other clans that you are currently ...
