I just beat her as a monk about 20 minutes ago (man...what a game...). She is just as immune to unarmed as she is to everything else, until you take out the guy that prays for blunt weapons...I think he's called something "of the mace." And yeah, monk worked real well on her...come to think of it ...

I thought dragons were immune to knockdown?
You are correct, though, in demonstrating that monks are amazing and awesome.

Alchemy: in the beginning

I'm playing sort of a ranger-ish character, using a longsword and bow and support magic. I've got alchemy as a minor skill, but I'm having some trouble with it because it's only level 10 and almost every time I try to make something, it fails, and I have trouble even finding combinations that will ...

My specs:
Windows 2000
PIII 1 Ghz
256 mb ram
ATI rage pro 128, 16 mb of video ram

I realize that my vram is disgustingly low, but the video card is specifically listed as being supported, and the other specs meet the recommended values. I'm not sure how to measure my frame rate, but I would guess ...

Paxtung has an excellent pro vs. con post there. I can't really argue with it except to say that somehow, the game just got boring. The graphics and score are still amazing, and I love how your character develops depending exactly on what you decide to develop and how you fight, but somehow it just ...

I highly recommend Jedi Knight II. I've always been an rpg fan, and up until this year BG2 was the only game I'd actually played all the way through and beaten. I got Dungeon Siege about two weeks ago and played about 25 hours of it, then got bored. I started right in on JK2 and about 40 hours later ...

Good thread, Ned. Thanks for providing some answers to a few of my questions.
Sorry I can't really add anything.

So the only thing increases in melee skill level really does is increase your chance to hit, which is mostly compensated anyway by the increase in monster levels?

Melee skill itself raises strength, or is the the combat that is raising your melee skill also raises strength at the same time?

I was addicted for about 30 hours of game play, a large number of those hours being consecutive. Then I kindof lost interest.

No one has any idea what leveling up does for your character?
I've looked around on various sites and nothing specifies, that I have found.

Fury's Eye

In the bottom of some dungeon early-ish in the game I came across a round thing called a "Fury's Eye." Anyone have any idea what it's for and what I should have done with it?

Melee skills

What do melee lvlups really do for your guys? Do they make them hit more often or do more damage or what? My guys are around level 40 and it still seems like their damage is based solely upon their weapon and they swing and miss just as much as they used to in battle.

Monks and wisdom

In AD&D 3rd edition rules, a monk's armor class, as well as other factors, are greatly affected by his wisdom. Did they implement this into BG2?

Hell questions

Anyone have a comprehensive list of what each action down in hell does for you when you reach the door? For example, I've heard that taking the "selfless" door gives you +2 AC, while being selfish ends up gaining you +10% magic resistance. What do the others do?

Hell guys

After talking to the "selfish" demon in hell, you have to choose a door. If you choose to be selfless and go through yourself, you lose 2 points of health permanently, one point of dexterity (my char. did, at least) and a bunch of experience. When I tried again, and this time was selfish, korgan was ...

How many pages are in the book? In other words, how many times can I turn the page to a new spell before the book is used up?

Hidden items

Remember the ring of wizardry near the inn in BG1? And the ankheg plate in nashkel...the ring of protection +1 in the area where gorion died... Are there any hidden items like this in BG2? I found a star sapphire in a latrine in nalia's keep...but other than that, I've yet to stumble over anything ...
