Arx Fatalis - Skill Cap?

I have finally started playing Arx Fatalis, after far too long.

It's been a really good experience so far, I feel something refreshing when I go back to older games like this- newer games just seem to lack something a lot of the time.

ANYWAYS- onto my question:

Is there a technical skill cap ...

Human Revolution (Pre-Order DLC) - Declining Tong's Weapon

I couldn't find mention of this anywhere else, but while reading the walkthrough information I saw the line:

"Two things will happen now depending on which version of the game you have. If you've got the Explosive Mission Pack preorder DLC from GameStop, the Augmented Edition in Europe, or one of ...

I'm Looking for a Certain Type of Game (2)...

I don't really know of any specific forum to post in, so I figure I'd just pose the question in multiple areas.

I want to play an open-world (meaning I can explore at my discretion, generally) game where I can construct structures and increase my abilities (rpg element, basically).

Minecraft is ...

The expansions of NWN were very good, yes. NWNII was actually a (very) good game in my book. Then again, I'm oddly immune to Obsidian bugs. (Really, not purposely ignoring them, just not experiencing them. For example, I ran in my first Alpha Protocol bug during my 4th playthrough only.)

I ...

I looooved NWN's OC and HotU, don't remember SoU so much though.

Mixing classes together was sooo much fun :D

Nah, Neverwinter Nights (the original campaign) - wasn't truly bad.. but it wasn't good either. Hordes of the Underdark (expansion) was actually decent.

I'm reasonably sure he wasn't referring to the early 2000's game Neverwinter Nights. IMO one of the best games ever made.

I have no idea ...

I like the idea of making skills interact more. Which is why I think especially a medium amount of points in a skill need to be rewarded more than it is now, and the difficulty ramped up to compensate. An example, if a character is decent in mind affecting spells and melee give him the "four eyes ...

Basically, if a game want to keep my interest, it has to give me new options at a steady pace, not just have the numbers increase, and those options have to be meaningfully different from what I already have.

I quite agree, I keep finding myself playing a game, realizing that nothing in the game ...

Both have appeal, though if I absolutely had to choose between the two then Open World.

Though really, there are too many variables in a game for it to determine that one is simply better than the other.

I like being able to explore the world, but if there's pretty much nothing to do then it's ...

Progression in Games

I was reading a different thread about Guild Wars 2 and how it differs from other MMOs and the topic of content came up, and the thought occurred to me:

What kinds of progression are there in games? How important is progression? Is progression vital to keeping a player interested in a game? Can ...

I am Looking for a Certain Type of Game...

I occasionally make this kind of thread when I'm trying to find something and I just don't know where to look.

First off, I generally prefer non-mainstream games. Most of the time I'll probably already know about it if it's a well-known title, but if you really think it fits the criteria then feel ...

Probably very unlikely - given that you said there were multiple classes and this game has a fixed protagonist.... but a game that has guns and features cyberpunky junkyard areas makes me think of the beginning of Septerra Core

How about Silverfall?

I know of Restricted Area, it's not quite it.

The area I remember from Restricted Area was more post-apocalyptic, whereas this game seems to take place in a more cyberpunky junkyard area.

Can't Remember The Name of this Game...

Okay, been searching on google for a general "what game is this?" thing, can't find anything reliable... internet >_>

Anyway, I'm trying to remember the name of a game that I played, but nothing comes to mind.

I think I first discovered it searching for roguelikes, but it isn't really a roguelike ...

I've actually beaten Neverwinter Nights 1 OC, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark and NWN2 OC... no idea how, I'm also a big character creation junkie.

I've played a nice bit of Dark Messiah, but I've never beaten it for some reason.

Games like Arcanum make things a little difficult for ...

The games you mention there are all The Elder Scrolls series. This series is predominantly an open world adventure. I've read many posts over the years from people who do not like doing the main quest and prefer just wandering about until they've had their fill of the game. Your reasons might be ...

Most of my game time is spent in either MMOs or longer, open-ended games like the Elder Scrolls series so I can spend a hundred hours or more in any of those and never "beat" it. I was telling my roommate I wanted to buy Elder Scrolls V before it came out. She asked me if I beat four because she ...
