Pretty sure he got off a few other area effects on me - can't remember if it was Cloudkill or Stinking Cloud, but I do remember him casting it. Think it was Stinking Cloud.

Anyway, I didn't manage to kill all of the vamps (for some reason one escaped as a bat right out into the Graveyard district somehow), but I still got down the doorway OK; so it's not to do with that.

Hah, yeah right. Like I'm really wise enough to reccomend strategies and all that rubbish.

Is there any way to dispel the actual web spell itself? I mean, Dispel Magic dispels the *effects* of a web, but not the actual web area effect itself. I can't remember seeing anything that does, but thought I'd just check.

Failing that, is there owt that I can cast on my party to negate the ...

Arkanis Gath is the dude's name if I remember correctly, and yeah I heard someone on another BG2 forum mentioning that there are a few other situations where similar stuff happens.

I just think it's a bit annoying that you can't loot Aran after you're finished with him >:|

Korgan did one (well, I actually reloaded, de-geared him and kicked him out just before was due to leave) because I was far too 'good' for him

I barely ever remember to backstab and he's doing just fine. He's usually got some hefty old full plate on anyway, so backstabbing is an armour-swap job I think (which you can't do during combat anyway).
