Poisoning your arrows should help and also, as said above, have plenty of healing potions (in one of your hotkeys).

I have an empty Grand Soul Gem and also the Umba sword but when I killed a Necromancer it said something about not having an available (or large enough?) Soul Gem to capture the soul. I double-checked and I have empty Grand Soul Gems. Are they not enough? Or is the Umba not enough? I am at level 47 ...

Since he respawns, you can use him to increase your skills - e.g., Hand to Hand; or use a really weak sword and whack away for Blade increase (followed by casting a spell that restores his health) followed by more whacking, etc...

Try Minor Life Detection repetively (you can just hold, or even tape, the cast key down).

Same problem here with starting Magicka at 200. I enchanted some armor once I closed several Oblivion Gates and received a few of the Sigil Stones that Fortify Magicka by 50. It is a constant effect as long as I am wearing the armor.
