I'm confused. I have 100% Shield (through various enchantments) but I can still be damaged by normal weapons. So, my question is what is Shield?

Are you blocking? If you're not, you just get a few additional armour points (up to a max of 85% damage reduction). I've never been at 100 block skill ...

Or just edit the file named "Oblivion_default.ini". Notepad works fine. Once the file is open, hit ctrl+F and search for "bInstantLevelUp". Change the '0' to '1'.

Do the Daedric shrine quests. Unfortunately they are all short, but most of thos I've done are still amusing if you ask me. And one of them is even evil enough to make the DB look like a bunch of school boys tormenting ants...

If you get a house you can safely store it in chests inside, with one exception!
One of the houses you can get is haunted and if you put stuff in it prior to completing the quest for that house, everything will be gone once you complete the quest.

The only thing that seems to affect the mercantile skill is the actual value of the transaction(s).

This means that selling a sword (value 100g) for 50g gives less skill increase than selling it for 60g. Furthermore, selling 3 swords at once, or selling one sword a piece three times amounts to the ...

Manually, I've used horses twice. First time around I stole a horse outside the Imperial City, Water District if I remember correctly. At least it's better now than it used to be, when in an RPG you would simply elect to attack and from there on in the computer had control until you won or lost. Maybe someday we'll come to the best of both worlds, where you can have an RPG with a true FPS combat interface ...
