Start over or continue?

I went back to BG in late 2006 after not playing it for perhaps seven or eight years. I stopped during the 2006-7 holiday season. At the time. I was in chapter 5, having completed the cloakwood mines and last camped in Ulgoth's Beard. I have just attempted to pick up where I left off, but find I ...

figured it out.

Even though the 'Original Saga' version includes TotSC, there apparently was a prompt I missed during installation asking whether I wanted files converted to the TotSC version - I had assumed this was automatic with this version. Anyway, once I ran MConvert on one of my saved game ...

Getting to Ulgoth's Beard

I have Baldur's Gate Original Saga installed which includes ToSC. I am currently in Chapter 5 but I can't seem to get access to Ulgoth's Beard. I can get to the far north zone (zombies) on the west side of the river, but no icon to go anywhere except back to the entrance to BG City. On the east side ...

Ok,I had also tried backstabbing with stealth up around 80-85% (w/stealth boots), but from what I see here, I was too far away when I chose attack. Her weapon is a short sword+2 so the weapon part is ok. Str is 18/97 and dex 18 so it ought to be a devastating attack if (when :) ) it actually happens ...

Backstab, What is the secret?

My main character is a fighter/thief currently at about 60% stealth. She can hide in the shadows and sneak behind someone, but as soon as I select attack, she leaves the shadows and no backstab. Apparently I am doing something wrong, but so far haven't discovered what that may be.

Sort of a hard poll to answer, asking three questions in one :)

At present, using a good (rep 20) party, Branwen is the cleric/healer. She complains a lot, but with full plate and the hammer dropped by Bassilius, she can help occupy a monster's attention (Khalid is the main tank) while the rest ...

noob question here

...I thought for a change I'd go for a 3 man party...

Char 1: Half-elf Ranger/Cleric, wielding hammers/flails/maces combinations there of. This guy will be my main tank and healer.

Temple bought potions (healing) resupply?

I thought the Sword Coast suffered from an iron shortage, not a potion shortage. So far I used all the potions available in the temples in both FAI and Nashkel. Do the re-supply wagons ever arrive? This is starting to get aggravating since I like to carry 3-4 per person and rely on them during ...

I agree with CFM, I've picked up Kivan in almost every game. He grumps alot, but I've never had him leave.
[...snip...]
However, there is a good cleric female that WILL leave your party if you do what she considers evil things....didn't want to get a spoiler tag...

When did you pick Kivan up? I ...

Kivan and Bandits

Sorry to be a pest with constant questions, but ... :)

I understand Kivan will leave if you don't kill bandits within 10 days of his joining the party. For that reason, I held off recruiting him until I had finished the Nashkel Mine and was ready to do Chapter 3, the Bandit Camp. As a result ...

UPDATE: Shar-Teel romance is out. According to the authors of the mod she's only interested in evil men and I'm not changing my PC for one character.

Does this mean my party line up will change? Well, yes. It would have been as lot of effort to get Shar-Teel, get Branwen, swap her for Yeslick. It ...

Minsc has either 15 or 16 dex not 18. I personally prefer Minsc. But Kahlid with the gauntlets of dex, advanced weapon speciallization and potions of strength is probably a better Tank than Minsc who would also need the Gauntlets of Dex.

Kaigan Is the Best NPC Tank in the game (20con)

You are ...

Tank, tank, who is the tank?

There is an interesting thread currently on page 2 debating Kivan or Coran as the best archer. What I am wondering is who is the better tank or melee for a good (rep 20) aligned party? Khalid as a pure fighter can get extra specialization in long swords (as a lvl 6 he currently has ** in bows and ...

Back agan :)

Not legit but, turning Xan into a fighter/mage....hello killcount!! :D Gotta love that moonblade...

The Xan I have as a lvl 5 or 6 mage has only 17 hp, making him extremely squishy.

I noticed once I went dual class with Imoen, she stopped gaining hitpoints. Is this because as a lvl 5 thief ...

It became moot when I accidently saved a game w/o Dynaheir over the top of the game keeping her as a corpse.

Resurrect or not?

Without intending to, I got Dynaheir killed during one of those "you have been waylaid" travel events. It will cost 1000 to resurrect her, Xan is waiting back in Nashkel and I have just purchased shadow armor for my PC fighter/thief. While I still have the 1000 gold, I am hesitant to use it on her ...

FWIW, I was able to dismiss Khalid and Jaheira at Feldpost's Inn. Jaheira immediately poofed but Khalid stayed around and was willing to rejoin the party. Could it be because he is good and Jaheira is neutral while my party rep is 20+? (20 seems to be the highest reputation that shows although I ...
