Just giving a slightly different opinion on the ones above. Operation Anchorage can be done any time you want to. On one occasion I made a beeline to the spawn point, cheat/stealthed past the Super Mutants, and started the DLC at level 3. I had no problem in the main part of the mod, and the levels ...

Right there with you, Gawain. Between Steam sales and GOG sales, I now have several hundred games that I don't have the time to play, let alone finish.

While certainly Steam's base price is a bit high, this is one of those games that goes for $5 for a few days every time Steam has a major sale. With summer coming up, I'd recommend checking Steam regularly (say, twice a week) and grab it during the next sale.

Been a while since I've played Maya, but that looks like a reasonable build. I'd probably drop one of the 1st or 2nd tier 5/5 abilities from each speciality initially in order to unlock the 3rd tier ones (Converge & Cloud Kill) faster, then backfill. That also depends on your play-style, though.

I ...

Both games do use (or overuse) a quest hub system, where you get quests, go out and complete them, run back to turn in and get more, etc. This never really changes, but it does expand. A few hours into the game, you'll find that you have 3 or 4 quests in each of 3 or 4 zones. Several of those zones ...

Personally, I quite enjoy both of the Borderlands games, but I play them intermittently. They're a good way of blowing off steam in a hurry when I'm stressed, as opposed to my usual RPGs which are more about long-term character development and story. There are two advantages of Borderlands 2 over 1 ...

If your game is that buggy, you may be interested to know that GOG recently acquired NWN2. The price tag is $20, but it does include all three expansions, and should be up to date. GOG whole mandate is to make older games run on newer systems, so this is likely to be the best copy you'll find.

There are two ways of looking at an issue like this: problems with the player and problems with the character.

From your description, it sounds like this is just a normal reaction of a new player trying to establish herself in an already formed group. As Gawain says, just take her aside and talk to ...

First, do you meet all the requirements for Arcane Scholar. (From the GB subsite) They are:

 Skills: Spellcraft 8 ranks
Feats: Empower Spell, Skill Focus (Concentration), and Skill Focus (Spellcraft).
Spellcasting: Able to cast 3rd-level arcane spells.

Also, might you be restricted from ...

It's been a while since I've played the games, but as I recall the Hide and Move Silently (Sneak) skills are primarily used to avoid combat or to set up your tactical position. So instead of automatically entering combat as soon as the NPCs see you, you can scout the area, trap the doors, get near ...

Gawain, if you're playing on PC then I'd also recommend checking out mod sites to see if there are any that you're interested in. As I've said elsewhere, while Hearthfire may not look great by itself, it supplies modders with a set of common libraries for house building, farming etc.

I haven't ...

In general I agree with your sentiment, I don't see why more games cannot do things well, although personally I think voice-acting is often taken too far. This is especially true if the PC is voiced, unless they are a pre-created character like in the Witcher or Two Worlds. Any time you create your ...

You might want to take a look at some of the lesser known MMOs, like Blacklight Retribution or Hellgate Global. I also recall that NeoCron has a decent, though not spectacular, combat system, but I'm not sure if it's still active.

Bannock, I don't know where you saw that price, but the site was probably just making it up to get pre-orders. No information about TESO's pricing has yet been announced, and the game isn't set to release until 2013.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I don't know of any mods which highlight non-explored locations, but you might be able to do that with console commands. There's an overview of the system at Console Commands (Skyrim) - The Elder Scrolls Wiki .

You could also try poking around the Skyrim Nexus mod site ...

This site has a map of Skyrim at The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim @ GameBanshee . That page links to a nine page PDF that can be viewed or downloaded so that you can see the map in more detail. Both versions show all known locations, and their name, so you could then compare that to your game map.

GawainBS, that would be Phileasson's Secret, released in English about a year ago. I'm not certain what it's full international availability is, but it is on Steam, although you need the Steam version of River of Time to buy it that way. I bought my copy of both on Direct2Drive (now GameFly), but it ...

I expect that the growing use, popularity, and acceptance of achievements in games is related to growing awareness of the Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology. Although still controversial, the test has been taken by enough people now (est. 700k) that estimations can be made about player populations.
