Edwin has some special items that give him more spells, i don't think you can make a better normal mage yourself.
Try a wild mage or a sorcerer if you want to be stronger than him.

Thanks, that did work. Converted the game to a mpgame, added a ranger/cleric to my liking and gave him all my current ones stuff, removed the old one and gave him the same # of xp as my old one with SK - problem solved. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the quick reply Sojourner, but it didn't work to just change the race to half-elf. I even tried to give him a lot of XP and level him up - but he still only advances in his cleric class.
Any other ideas?

Hi, i have a party a fair way into SOA and one of my characters is a dual classed human ranger/cleric, he is doing nicely. But, i have started to wonder if a multiclass half elf ranger/cleric might not be the better choice for the long term?
I intend to play this party all the way through TOB and ...

Fighter/mage (elite in combat with weapons + protect spells) or an archer (ultimate ranged char) perhaps?

Noone else who knows of evil solutions to parts of the game? No more SLAY EVERYONE replies needed.

I've had great success with this multiplayer (all 4 homemade) party:

PC: half orc fighter (main melee char, could use a flavor of paladin as well or a barbarian, need someone to stand at the front)
Half orc fighter/thief (little extra melee power + thievery and ranged ability)
Ranger dualed to ...

Inspired by the other thread on being evil, what evil actions & quest solutions are there in the game?

I myself have never really played evil and i can only recall the following:

-Siding with bodhi and her vampires

-Agreeing to poisoning the grove instead of taking it over (stupid, it pays A LOT ...

Hehe, maybe stilgar - still it would have been better if it was possible to side with the shadow lord to conquer umar hills

Far as i can see BG2 doesn't really support playing in an evil way.
The quests are almost all based on you being the goody goody hero and offer little freedom - usually the few evil solutions you have are way inferior to the good solutions (fewer xp, worse loot).

BG2 has almost no freedom to play ...

Hey. I have completed both SOA and TOB now and i have tried various party combinations as well as playing the game solo.
So far i have been playing with parties and characters designed to be efficient, i have been powergaming.

I'm playing one through SOA atm, I was just wondering how i can expect him to do once i get to TOB? has anyone played through it solo with a sorc? is it possible? hard? any tips?

I've only completed TOB once with a very melee heavy party so i'm unsure what to expect.

I killed firkraag, and the knight guy told me he would set up a meeting to let me join the order of the most radiant heart. But when i go to their HQ the only one who seems to want to talk to me is ryan trawl who gives me the fallen paladin quest.
How do i join the order? who do i need to talk to ...
